Step 4: Defining a Customized Web Application (CWA)

From the SkylineGlobe Manager Customized Web Application page, you can control, customize, and monitor many elements of each of the CWAs you are hosting, including selecting the application’s ribbon, Project Tree, startup tool, base Fly, and logo.

To define a new CWA:

1.    In the SkylineGlobe Manager, on the Customized Web Applications page, click Add. The Customized Web Application Details page is displayed.

2.    Enter the following details:

Customization Details

Note: Optional fields that are not defined are inherited from the default web application.

Name

Name of the CWA.

Key

Key to pass in the URL (?referrer=key) to use this CWA.

Online

Current state of the CWA (active/inactive).

Default Tool

Startup tool to display on the left panel.

Logo URL

URL of an image file (e.g., http://www.MyApplication.com/logo.gif) to display as a logo on the upper-left hand corner of the CWA.

Base fly

URL of the base .Fly file to use as the first file that opens when the CWA is accessed. The base .Fly generally contains only the required terrain database and the relevant settings (e.g., startup position). (Optional)

Initial fly

URL of the initial .Fly file. SkylineGlobe loads this file right after loading the base .Fly. The initial .Fly file contains layers and objects that you want to always display. These layers are not displayed in the Project Tree. (Optional)

Contact link

Email address or URL to use for the Contact Us link of the ribbon’s SkylineGlobe menu. 

Support link

Email address or URL to use for the Support link of the ribbon’s SkylineGlobe menu.

Layers tree

Select the Project Tree configuration to use for this CWA.

2D Layers tree

Select the Project Tree configuration to use in 2D mode.

Result Panel

When selected, the Search Results panel is displayed on this CWA.

Is Public

When selected, anyone can access this CWA. When cleared, only authorized users, who have been assigned to the role that is associated with this CWA, can access the application.

Ribbon Pro

Select the customized ribbon to be displayed for users with a TerraExplorer Pro license.

Ribbon Plus

Select the customized ribbon to be displayed for users with a TerraExplorer Plus license.

Ribbon Viewer

Select the customized ribbon to be displayed for users with a TerraExplorer Viewer license.

Ribbon 2D

Select the customized ribbon to be displayed in the 2D mode.

Logo Section

When selected, your application’s logo and the data provider icons are displayed on the upper left hand corner of the site. The logo image is selected in the Logo URL field and the data providers are set in the Data providers’ field.

Data Providers

Type a link to the data provider and reference the image file to use as the data provider’s icon. (Free HTML)

Minimize Ribbon

When selected, the CWA opens with the ribbon minimized.

User Section

When selected, the name and icon of the currently signed in user is displayed on the upper right hand corner of the web page along with a Sign in/out link.

Search Provider

Select the search provider that should be used by the search function:

§   Open Street Map (OSM) data powered by MapQuest –Search service by MapQuest that queries OSM data.

§   Local Gazetteer database - This option is available only when Gazetteer is installed during the SGWP installation.

§   Custom A custom search provider. The URL for this provider is defined in the Search Endpoint field.

MapQuest AppKey

A unique application key provided by MapQuest to authorize use of the search services. This field is only displayed when OSM Data powered by MapQuest is selected as the Search Provider.

Gazetteer Status

This field is only displayed when Local Gazeteer database is selected as the Search Provider (read only).

Search Endpoint

The search provider URL. This field is only displayed when Custom is selected as the Search Provider.

2D Toolbar Mode

Select the on-screen buttons to display when using the 2D mode:

§   No buttons

§   3D Button – Clicking on it switches to 3D mode.

§   Base Maps and 3D Buttons – Clicking the 3D button switches to 3D mode, while clicking one of the base map buttons switches the map to the selected base map.

Base Map

Select the base map to use in 2D mode. (Optional)

Base Map 2

Select an additional base map to load in 2D mode. (Optional)

Description

A description of the CWA. (Free text)

3.    Click Save.
