Some of the main differences between SkylineGlobe and other solutions (E.g. Google Earth) are:
Browser based: skylineglobe's 3D maps run inside a browser and can be integrated to any site by simply adding your data and a 3D window to the page. Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers can be used by Windows users. Versions for Mac and Linux versions are coming as well.
Street level visualization: SkylineGlobe supports entire cityscapes of photo-realistically textured 3D buildings allowing for detailed street level views unavailable in any other streaming map platform, going far beyond sketchy landmarks and grey boxes.
Live world concepts. Live video projected on the terrain, instant update of feature data, use of animated objects/gif files, use of real, textured, moving objects, shared drawing tools and more make the world come alive.
Global Community: Every user becomes a part of the SkylineGlobe community. Members can share their content, favorite places, photo albums and more and invite each other to collaborative guided tours .
Instant updates: Skyline can rebuild the entire database dynamically in an instant, while others take several months to add data at any level.
Turn-key, personalized platform - Other "3D-toolkits" and open source code bases could take years to fully implement, SkylineGlobe is here today, and you can have fully personalized applications up in hours.
Customer service and support: SkylineGlobe is a fully supported business application by an experienced software company, not some portal's "take it or leave it" map related advertising exercise.
